Michael Zhang is the latest apprentice to join Seriun’s expanding team. He joins as Business Admin Apprentice from Burnley College and will be providing office support helping everything run smoothly.

Originally from Guangdong in China, Michael moved to Manchester with his family when he was seven. He studied and achieved 9 GCSE’s at Droylsden Academy, including ADA and EDEXCEL. He then moved to Burnley two years ago and enrolled at Burnley College where he completed a BTEC Level 3 in Sports Science.

Following college, Michael decided that an apprenticeship was the best route for him and chose to take a Business Admin apprenticeship with hydronic systems manufacturer FloControl in Burnley. However, one year into his studies he realised he wanted to work for a company more suited to his underlying passion for computing and software, so transferred his apprenticeship to IT and cyber security specialists Seriun.

Michael’s role at Seriun is integral to their business as he controls the goods in/goods out process, prepares sales documents, processes purchase invoices and provides general office support. He also liaises with all departments and disseminates information to support the day-to-day workflow.

As his new role is extremely varied, Michael will gain a good understanding of systems and operations and how all divisions integrate to create a successful business.

Michael said: “I’m extremely happy with my move to Seriun and very grateful for the opportunity to develop my career with one of the leading tech companies in Lancashire. I’m looking forward to the future as part of the Seriun team.”

Mark Edwards said, “We believe in the power of apprenticeship programs to provide hands-on learning experiences for aspiring professionals. Our apprentices have the opportunity to gain practical skills and knowledge from experienced industry experts, while also contributing to the success of our business. Michael is our latest recruit and he’s already making significant impact – a fantastic addition to the team.”

In his spare time, Michael loves to play football and was part of his school team for four years. Continuing his passion, he has already joined the Seriun football team and plays after work once every week. Besides football he also enjoys gaming and used to be a member of a mobile gaming organisation.

Michael’s favourite place is China where he grew up and where most of his childhood memories are from. He also visits regularly on family vacations.
