Support Our Charity Expedition: Seriun to Tackle Snowdon (With a Twist)

Seriun is preparing to take on one of its most ambitious corporate social responsibility challenges yet this summer, with a fundraising climb up Mount Snowdon on 25th July in support of Burnley FC in the Community.

At the centre of the challenge is Wayne Fulton, Seriun’s Head of Cyber, who will be carrying a fridge to the summit of Snowdon and back down again. While a group of Seriun colleagues will be joining him on the climb, Wayne will be the one bearing the weight throughout the entire journey, turning an already demanding mountain hike into an extraordinary test of strength, endurance and determination.

For those who know Wayne, taking on a challenge like this comes as no surprise.

Wayne is not someone who does things by halves. While he spends his working days helping businesses protect themselves from cyber threats, outside of work he has built a reputation for pushing himself to the limit through extreme physical challenges. A former champion strongman and keen martial artist, Wayne has previously pulled a truck for charity and completed a 127-mile charity cycle ride in support of the Poppy Mai Foundation.

Now, he is setting his sights on one of his toughest tests yet.

Support Wayne’s Snowdon Challenge

Standing at 1,085 metres, Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Carrying a fridge to the summit and back is a challenge very few would even consider, requiring months of preparation, exceptional physical strength and the mental resilience to keep going when every step becomes harder than the last.

The challenge is being undertaken in support of Burnley FC in the Community, Seriun’s chosen charity partner.

As a Burnley-based business, Seriun has always made supporting the local community an important part of who it is. The company is proud of its roots and the people and organisations that make Burnley such a strong and connected place. Choosing Burnley FC in the Community as its charity partner was a natural decision due to the charity’s commitment to supporting young people, improving wellbeing, promoting inclusion and delivering programmes that make a genuine difference across the town.

By supporting a charity so deeply connected to the local area, Seriun hopes the funds raised will help create a lasting impact for people within the community.

Wayne Fulton said:

“It’s going to be tough, no doubt about it. Carrying a fridge up Snowdon isn’t something you take lightly, but it’s for a fantastic cause. Burnley FC in the Community does incredible work across the town, and if carrying a fridge up a mountain helps raise awareness and money for that work, then every step will be worth it.”

The team has set an initial fundraising target of £2,000 and is encouraging colleagues, customers, partners and members of the local community to get behind the challenge by donating, sharing the campaign or following their progress.

Laura Brown added:

“Wayne has always been someone who embraces a challenge, but even by his standards this is a big one. We’re incredibly proud of him and everyone taking part. Burnley FC in the Community does such amazing work, and this is our way of giving something back while coming together as a team for a cause that means a lot to us.”

In the lead-up to the event, the team will share training updates, fundraising milestones, and behind-the-scenes preparations across Seriun’s social media channels. Supporters will also be able to follow the climb on the day across social as the team makes its way from the base of the mountain to the summit and back.

With a worthy local cause, a determined team and a fridge heading for the top of one of the UK’s most iconic mountains, it promises to be a challenge to remember.
